Welcome to the World of Vintage Fishing. Vintage and antique fishing rods,  reels and lures have everlasting appeal. They can take us back in time to a simpler place and PACE of life, where fishing lures and tackle were all hand made in small quantities for the avid sportsman.  The originality, diversity and nostalgia can make this hobby rewarding.  Reading old fishing stories can bring us back to a time when fishing was still great everywhere and the adventure was part of the fun!

If you are an angler who has come across and old tackle box full of lures, you know the enchantment that comes from collecting old antique fishing tackle and lures. Vintage tackle may be dirty, even a bit rusty,  they are remnants of a quieter, simpler time.

Whats is called “ the golden age” of fishing lure and tackle innovation and manufacturing, the middle to late 20th century, small lure companies were the mainstay. The few international and national company’s were not really largely mass-marketed like those of. Many  lures were local and regional inventions, made privately.

Many  lures were local and regional inventions, made privately.  the small time lure maker was truly an innovative entrepreneur, and some very strange designs were marketed.

Many vintage lures are quite large – very large today’s standards. They were made  to be cast with the crude fishing reels and ultra stiff rods.  Most were designed for shallow water or topwater fishing.
